I know you’ve all heard the make-your-coffee-at-home advice so you aren’t spending $4 a day on a latte, but that’s not always easy for me to do.
If you can’t give up your trek to the nearby coffee shop at work, then do what I did for the past month:
Buy the smallest cup of plain coffee.
Add milk/soy milk/creamer and sugar separately. Don’t have the coffee shop add your extras or they may charge you for the convenience.
If you order a small plain latte, do the same thing: add milk separately. Coffee shops will charge you from .50 cents to an extra one or two dollars per cup if they doctor the drink for you behind the counter.
Limit your coffee runs slowly. Don’t go cold turkey. I’m down to 3-4 times a week.
I estimate that I am saving about $80 a month just by being smarter about what I order in the morning.
